Weston Clevedon & Portishead Light Railway

Terrier

'N' gauge

Osborn's Models of Bideford has commissioned from Dapol a limited edition of 250 N gauge models of former Weston, Clevedon & Portishead 'Terrier' Portishead.

The ex-LB&SCR Stroudley loco was one of two, the other being the former Ashtead, purchased by the WC&PR at the instigation of Colonel Stephens from the Southern Railway and used (as No.2) until the closure of the line. Absorbed into GWR stock in 1940 it was renumbered 5 but retained the name. After some employment at Taunton and Newton Abbot, the little loco - built in 1877 as Gipsyhill - was withdrawn by BR Western Region in 1950, stored at Swindon, and scrapped in March 1954 aged 77 years. (Ashtead, GWR No.6, was condemned in January 1948.)

The model is the amazing little Dapol 'Terrier' nicely re-liveried in unlined GWR green with the company circular logo, name and number plates neatly printed.

Also shortly to be released is an exclusive Twin Pack of local mineral wagons to accompany the loco which will contain one Clevedon Gas Works wagon and one Black Rock Quarries.
